Summary

Provides foot care services to older adults in a senior center setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Obtain a brief health history with focus on issues related to foot care.

  2. Obtain annual written consent from physician if participant has diabetes, circulatory problems or other conditions that could lead to complications if the area around the nail becomes infected.

  3. Perform brief examination of the feet to determine appropriate level of treatment.

  4. Provide treatment to include any of the following: palpitation, alleviation of dry skin, trimming nails and relieving pressure from bunions.

  5. Making referrals to appropriate health care professionals (podiatrist, internist, nurse) when the following is observed:

    1. Red or inflamed or open wound around the nail

    2. Cracked heels so that an open wound exists

    3. On blood thinners and nails are extremely thick and difficult to trim

    4. Other situations that go beyond the employee's level of certification and training

  6. Teach the center participant how to care for feet and scheduling follow up visit

Selection Process:

This is a competitive selection process. All fully completed application packages that show the minimum qualifications and have followed the How to Apply instructions will be reviewed. Interviews will be scheduled for those applicants whose qualifications in the areas listed above most closely correspond to the position’s requirements. In order to preserve our resources toward furthering our mission, only candidates with whom we wish to arrange an interview will be contacted. All others will be maintained in our files for a minimum of six months.
